Sir Peter Buck (a.k.a Te Rangi Hiroa) who published the book "Ethnology of Manihiki and Rakahanga" mentioned Rakahanga as "Fararanga" as well but no oral histories are able to reccount the origin of this name in Manihiki/Rakahanga history or genealogies.
