Handcrafted items such as woven mats, Rito hats and baskets as well as ukelele and soap are prevalent on the islands. In addition to the links on this page, throughout the site you will find examples of Cook Islands artists paintings, carvings, sculpture, tivaeve and weavings. Canoes, or vaka, vary in style from island to island.
One of the famous artists, sculpture and vaka carvers on Rarotonga is Michael Tavioni, several of his sculptures can be seen throughout the site.
